The Roost Living Learning Program - Housing Scholarship

Funded by the Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority’s grant award to Virginia Tech through the “Virginia Tech Recovery Community: Fostering a Recovery Integrated Campus” project, the Roost Living Learning Program (LLP) Housing Scholarship is awarded to returning students who demonstrate a commitment to residing in The Roost LLP. The Roost LLP provides a substance-free residential environment designed to support students in recovery and students who wish to serve as allies.

The purpose of this award is to reduce financial barriers for students in recovery who may benefit from living in a supportive housing community on campus. Preference will be given to students who identify as being in recovery from substance use disorder and/or addiction and who are either returning residents of The Roost LLP or active members of the Virginia Tech Recovery Community.

Applicants must also complete the application for The Roost LLP, which can be accessed on the Office of Living-Learning Programs (OLLP) website. Students who have not submitted a Roost LLP application will be ineligible for this funding. After initial review of eligible applications, finalists may be invited to participate in an interview with The Roost LLP and Virginia Tech Recovery Community staff.

Recipients selected must sign and submit their housing contract by the university housing deadline of December 13, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. and are responsible for the non-refundable $100 deposit.
