Buzz's Bunch Scholarship

Brent “Buzz” Williams, Virginia Tech Basketball Coach 2014-2019, established this scholarship for undergraduates in any field of study who are connected with Services for Students with Disabilities.  Coach Williams is known as a strong leader on and off the court, respected for his good character, and admired for his commitment to his team and the extensive preparations he always makes in support of them.  This endowed scholarship strengthens the longstanding pledge Coach Williams made to assist students with disabilities so they may reach their full potential. 

The applicant must be recognized as a student with a disability by Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD), have completed at least one full semester (Fall or Spring) while connected to SSD and be in good academic standing with the University and the respective Academic Department (overall GPA and in-major GPA meet required standards). The ideal candidate embodies the character strengths of leadership, integrity, and commitment to improving our world.

This scholarship is a one-time award. All qualified students with disabilities, including those from underrepresented groups, are encouraged to apply.

You are strongly encouraged to refer to, and describe your experience considering, at least one Virginia Tech Aspiration for Student Learning (https://experience.vt.edu/aspirations.html) and at least one Clifton Strength (https://experience.vt.edu/strengths.html) and tying-in your disability if appropriate. Multimedia presentations should be submitted as a URL link from your Google Drive. Please choose between the essay submission or 10 minute presentation.
