Galen Richard Kline Scholarship

The Galen Richard Kline Study Abroad Scholarship provides financial support for students studying in France or a Francophone country during the academic year. This includes students participating in the Virginia Tech Summer Program in Paris, or in the Virginia Tech Summer Program in Sénégal.

  3. In a brief essay of 500-700 words in English, explain why you should receive scholarship money. Indicate what are your objectives or motivations if you plan to study abroad. What will be the impact of this program on your studies in general? Have you traveled/ lived abroad? If so, where and for how long? Do you have plans to teach on the primary or secondary school level? Indicate your interest in and commitment to Franco-/Francophone-American friendship (promoting ties between France or a Francophone country and the US and/or between French or Francophone people and Americans). Indicate if you are receiving scholarship money from another source. If financial need a factor for you, please give the committee a sense of your situation.
