CoLab Digital Tech Credential Scholarship

Funded by Virginia Tech, the CoLab Digital Tech Credential Scholarship is a one time scholarship awarded to students currently pursuing or intending to pursue one of the Digital Tech Credentials. These credentials are earned by students pursuing the Data and Decisions Pathways minor or the BIT Cybersecurity Management and Analysis major. Recipients must have an interest in pursuing a Digital Tech career, have completed at least one course towards the Digital Generalist or Specialist Credential, and demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA.

  1. Essay (300 word maximum): CoLAB's vision is for the National Capital Region to become the most diverse digital tech workforce in the countiy. The Scholarship's Purpose is to provide support to diverse student populations with a preference for those that are underrepresented in the digital tech profession. In support of CoLAB's vision and the Scholarship's Purpose, please answer the following two prompts: How will the CoLAB Digital Tech Credential Scholarship support your career goals? How will your selection as a scholarship recipient support the Scholarship's Purpose?
  2. If you are awarded a scholarship from the Capital CoLAB for your participation in the Digital Tech Credential Program, the CoLAB has requested information about your academic progress toward the credential. With your approval, the following information will be shared periodically with the CoLAB and may be shared with their corporate partners to determine your eligibility or preference for the co-curricular opportunities they offer: 1) your name, major, VT email, and race/ethnicity as listed in university records, 2) that you are a recipient of the CoLAB Digital Tech Scholarship; 3) whether you have completed each of the courses required for the credential. The course and semester of completion will be shared, NOT your grade. If you do not pass the course, no information will be shared; 4) whether you have met all of the requirements to be awarded the credential; 5) confirmation of your graduation from Virginia Tech, including the degree earned and major(s), minor(s) completed.
